About Desert Moon Botanicals

Rooted in Desert Wisdom, Made for Modern Wellness

Desert Moon Botanicals is an Arizona rooted small-batch herbal apothecary and learning space based in the Sonoran Desert.

Through classes, workshops, plant walks, and herbal products, we help people feel more confident working with herbs and develop a deeper connection with the plants growing around them.

Herbalism can sometimes feel complicated or out of reach. Our goal is to make it approachable, useful, and relevant to everyday life.

Whether you are attending your first herbal class, learning to identify medicinal plants outdoors, or building a simple home apothecary, everyone is welcome here.

Herbal Education

Education is at the heart of Desert Moon Botanicals.

Our classes and workshops are designed to help you build herbal skills you can use at home. Topics may include medicinal plants of the Desert Southwest, herbal teas, infused botanical oils, salves, home apothecary skills, herbal first aid, and seasonal wellness.

Instead of simply memorizing lists of herbs, students learn how plants have traditionally been used, how herbal preparations are made, and how to work with herbs safely and thoughtfully.

Desert Moon Botanicals offers public classes, private group programs, workshops, speaking engagements, and special events. Programs are also presented in partnership with community organizations, including the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, Arizona.

Private offerings can be tailored for community groups, organizations, retreats, clubs, and other gatherings interested in practical herbal education, regional medicinal plants, and the landscapes where they grow.

Interested in hosting a private class, workshop, or speaking engagement? Get in touch to discuss an educational program for your group or event.

Botanical Experiences

Some of the best herbal education happens outside.

Guided plant walks offer a chance to meet plants where they grow and learn how landscape, weather, and season shape them. Walks may include identification, traditional and contemporary uses, ecology, safety, and the stories connected with regional plants.

From the Sonoran Desert to Arizona’s forests, mountains, and high-country landscapes, each region is home to its own remarkable medicinal plants and traditions of plant knowledge. Slowing down and learning to truly notice them can change the way you experience the natural world.

The Desert Moon Apothecary

The Desert Moon Apothecary is a carefully selected collection of small-batch herbal products that complements our educational work.

The collection is influenced by the plants and landscapes of Arizona and the Desert Southwest, while also including familiar herbs and formulas from beyond the region. The focus is simple: useful, well made products that have a place in everyday herbal practice.

Jennifer Ribaudo, founder of Desert Moon Botanicals

Meet Jennifer

Desert Moon Botanicals was founded by Jennifer Ribaudo, a clinical and bioregional herbalist, herbal educator, medicine maker, and lifelong student of plants.

Jennifer’s path to herbalism was not a straight one. Before beginning her work with plants, she spent more than 30 years in corporate information technology and served in the United States Army. After experiencing her own health challenges, she began studying herbal medicine and gradually found herself drawn toward a very different kind of work, one centered on plants, education, and community.

Her training includes Western herbalism, clinical herbal studies, wellness coaching, and years of direct field experience with medicinal plants.

Jennifer’s work is especially influenced by the landscapes and medicinal plants of Arizona and the Desert Southwest. Her approach is shaped by field study, traditional plant knowledge, careful observation, and a strong commitment to plant conservation. She teaches in a warm, down-to-earth way, helping students understand not only how herbs are used, but why.

A Wandering Herbalist, Desert-Rooted

Although Desert Moon Botanicals is rooted in Arizona, Jennifer’s love of plants extends far beyond the desert.

Travel gives her the opportunity to explore new landscapes, learn about regional plant traditions, and experience the many ways people connect with herbal medicine. These experiences continue to shape her teaching and deepen her appreciation for bioregional herbalism.

No matter where she travels, the Sonoran Desert remains home and continues to influence the heart of Desert Moon Botanicals.

Our Approach

These values guide how we teach, create, and work with plants.

Herbalism Should Be Approachable

You do not need to know everything before you begin.

Confidence Comes Through Practice

People learn herbs by seeing, making, tasting, asking questions, and trying.

Plants Deserve Respect

Herbalism includes caring for the plants and landscapes that make the work possible.

Ethical Wildcrafting

Wildcrafting should be ethical, responsible, and rooted in stewardship.
