Jennifer Ribaudo exploring medicinal plants in Arizona

Medicinal Plant Walks

Meet Arizona’s medicinal plants where they grow.

Explore the Landscape Through Plants

Some of the best herbal education happens outside. Guided medicinal plant walks offer an opportunity to slow down, meet plants in their natural habitats, and learn about the landscapes, seasons, and ecological relationships that shape them.

Walks may take place in the Sonoran Desert, northern Arizona, and other regional landscapes depending on the season and location.

What to Expect

Plant walks are educational outdoor experiences and may take place on natural or uneven terrain. The pace is generally relaxed, with frequent stops for plant observation and discussion.

Specific details about distance, elevation, accessibility, weather, and what to bring will be included with each event listing. Participants should come prepared for the conditions and bring water, appropriate footwear, sun protection, and any other items noted for the walk.

Plants are observed respectfully, and harvesting may be limited or excluded depending on the location, season, plant population, and land-use rules.

Private Plant Walks and Group Experiences

Private medicinal plant walks can be arranged for community groups, retreats, clubs, organizations, and small gatherings. Programs may be tailored to the group’s interests, experience level, location, and season.

A Note About Safety

Plant walks are educational and are not a substitute for medical advice. Participants should never taste, harvest, or use a plant unless it has been positively identified and permission has been given by the instructor.
