Jennifer Ribaudo leading a medicinal plant walk in Arizona

About the Walk

This guided desert plant walk takes place in the Superstition Mountains and focuses on medicinal plants of the Sonoran Desert as they grow in a rugged, mountainous environment. The area offers an opportunity to observe how desert species respond to rocky soils, elevation changes, exposure, and limited water.

This outdoor walk is designed for those interested in learning how desert plants are identified and understood in herbal practice. We will observe plants in their natural habitat and discuss their traditional and contemporary uses for food, medicine, and everyday living.

Some plants discussed may also appear on other Desert Moon plant walks throughout the season. Seeing the same species in different habitats helps build stronger recognition and practical plant knowledge.

This is an observational and educational walk. No harvesting will take place.
